Meeting of Edward IV of England and Louis XI of France at Picquigny, France, 1475 (1864). Edward (1442-1483) and Louis (1423-1483) lay their hands on the missal and the cross and swear to observe their respective engagements to complete the Treaty of Picquigny. Under the treaty, Louis agreed to pay Edward 75,000 crowns followed by a further annual payment of 50,000 crowns in return for his agreeing not to take up arms to pursue any claim to the French throne.
