Mrs W Buller, first woman to fly professionally, 1914. Mrs Buller became a professional pilot with Caudron and Co. Inset is a portrait of British aviator John Alcock (1892-1919), one of the first men, together with his navigator, Arthur Whitten Brown, to fly non-stop across the Atlantic, a feat they achieved in 1919.
