'Fairyland' setting for the draw in the Irish Hospitals' Sweepstake, Dublin, Ireland, c1933. First established in 1930, the Irish Hospitals' Sweepstake was a lottery held to raise money for Ireland's hospitals. The draw was held in Dublin's Mansion House. Tickets for the lottery were sold worldwide. It has been estimated that in 1933, at the bottom of the Great Depression, approximately 400,000 American tickets got into the draw.
