Construction of one of the towers of the George Washington Bridge, New York, USA, late 1920s. A suspension bridge over the Hudson River connecting Manhattan and New Jersey, the George Washington Bridge was commissioned by the New York Port Authority in the 1920s. Designed by Othmar Ammann, it had the longest central span of any suspension bridge in the world at the time of its completion in 1931.
