Westminster Bridge and St Thomas's Hospital, London, 1887. Designed by Thomas Page, Westminster Bridge was completed in 1862. St Thomas's Hospital was originally founded in 1109. It relocated from Southwark to the South Bank in the 1860s and these buildings were designed by Henry Currey and opened by Queen Victoria in 1871. The hospital incorporated 'Nightingale Wards', allowing maximum ventilation and the dispersal of foul air, as recommended by Florence Nightingale, who worked at St Thomas's and established a nursing training school there.
