Facade, Church of the Certosa di Pavia (Charterhouse of Pavia) Lombardy, northern Italy, 1890. The Certosa di Pavia is a Carthusian monastery built between 1396 and 1495. The church was the last part of the complex to be built. It was consecrated in 1497 but the lower part of the facade was not completed until 1507.
