Grand Duke Konstantin Nikolayevich of Russia with his wife and one of their sons, 1860. Grand Duke Konstantin (1827-1892) was the second son of Tsar Nicholas I and Alexandra Fyodorovna. He married Princess Alexandra of Saxe-Altenburg (1830-1911) in 1848. Their eldest son, Grand Duke Nicholas Constantinovich (1850-1918), was disgraced and banished to what is now Uzbekistan after becoming involved in a plot against his family. He settled in Tashkent, where he became a popular figure and worked as an engineer and irrigator, constructing canals. Found in the collection of the Russian State Film and Photo Archive, Krasnogorsk.
