Austro-Hungarian prisoners of war near a barracks, Karelia, Russia, WWI, 1915. The Russians captured some 500,000 Austro-Hungarian soldiers during the First World War. Almost 375,000 of them died from smallpox and typhus. Found in the collection of the Library of Congress, Washington DC.
