Workers of Magnitogorsk, USSR, 1932. Magnitogorsk is a city in the Urals with large-scale mining and iron and steel industries. Its development was at the forefront of Stalin's Five Year Plans for the Soviet economy in the 1930s. In 1937 all foreigners were instructed to leave and Magnitigorsk became a closed city. Found in the collection of the State Museum of the Political History of Russia, St Petersburg.
