The funeral of Engelbert Dollfuss, Austrian politician, 2 August 1934. Dollfuss (1892-1934) was elected Chancellor of Austria in 1932. The following year he had parliament suspended and ruled as a dictator, modelling the Austrian state on Italian fascism. He banned the National Socialist Party in Austria, but was assassinated by members of the Austrian SS who stormed the Chancellery building in Vienna as part of an attempted coup on 25 July 1934.
