Barracks, Umm el-Jimal, Jordan. Umm el-Jimal in northern Jordan is the site of ruins of a Byzantine and early Islamic town, as well as nearby remains of a Roman village. The town's prosperity peaked in the 6th century but it was destroyed by an earthquake in 748. The barracks were built in the 5th century.
