Prambanan, Hindu temple compound, Java, Indonesia. Built in the 9th century Prambanan is a Hindu temple complex dedicated to the Trimurti, the trinity of Brahma the creator, Vishnu the preserver and Shiva the destroyer. It served as the royal temple of the kings of Medang (Mataram). Restoration of the site began in 1918 and is ongoing.
