Organ, Hexham Abbey, Northumberland, 2010. Hexham Abbey was originally founded as a Benedictine Monastery in the 7th century but was replaced by an Augustinian priory in Norman times. Much of the church dates from this time (c1170-1250). The priory was closed in 1537 by the Dissolution of the Monasteries but the church survived as Hexham's parish church. The organ, which was installed in 1974, was made by Lawrence Phelps of Pennsylvania.
