'Giants in the new skyline of Houston, Texas', USA, 1938. Vintage postcard showing separate views of the Gulf Building, San Jacinto Memorial and Esperson Building. Completed in 1929, the Art Deco Gulf Building was the tallest building in Houston until 1963. It was designed by Alfred C Finn, Kenneth Franzheim and JER Carpenter. The skyscraper is now known as the JPMorgan Chase Building. The San Jacinto Memorial commemorates the Battle of San Jacinto in 1836, which led to Texas winning its independence from Mexico. It was dedicated in 1939. The Esperson Building was built in 1927. It was designed by John Eberson.
