Male dress, late 14th century, (1910). The figure on the right is wearing a court-pie, a sort of short cloak split up the sides, with a high houppelande collar and richly dagged. The large chaperon, a hat made by winding the long 'liripipe' round the cap, extends down the back. Illustration from British Costume during 19 Centuries by Mrs Charles H Ashdown, (London, 1910).
