Launch of HMS 'Thunderer', Woolwich Royal Dockyard, Kent, 1831. King William IV and Queen Adelaide were among those attending the ceremony. 'Thunderer' was an 84 gun second rate ship of the line. Woolwich Dockyard was founded by Henry VIII in 1512 to build his flagship 'Henri Grace a Dieu' (the 'Great Harry'), the largest warship of its time.
