Colossal statue, Karnak, Egypt. The statue represents the Pharaoh Rameses II, who ruled Egypt from 1279 to 1213 BC. The smaller figure in front of the main statue is of Rameses' daughter, Bent'anta. The colossal statue was later usurped by Pinedjem I, who was High Priest of Amun at Thebes and effectively ruler of southern Egypt in the mid 11th century BC.
