Grave of David Lloyd George, Welsh politician, Llanystumdwy, Gwynedd, Wales. David Lloyd George (1863-1945) was a Liberal member of Parliament for fifty years and served in government as President of the Board of Trade (1905-1908), Chancellor of the Exchequer (1908-1915), Arms Minister (1915-1916) and War Minister (1916). He was British prime minister between 1916 and 1922. Lloyd George attended the Paris Peace Conference in 1919 after World War I, and was heavily involved in the Treaty of Versailles. He was responsible for introducing the measures which established the foundations of the modern welfare state.
