USS 'Indiana', American battleship, 1898. Commissioned in 1895, the 'Indiana' was the lead ship of a class of three pre-dreadnought battleships. Together with her sisters, 'Massachusetts' and 'Oregon', she participated in the Battle of Santiago on 3 July 1898 during the Spanish-American War, in which the Spanish Caribbean Squadron was destroyed.
