Zeppelin shot down near Colchester, Essex, World War I, 1916. This Zeppelin, the L33, commanded by Captain Alois Böcker, took part in a bombing raid on London on the night of 23-24 September 1916. It was damaged by anti-aircraft fire and, after steadily losing height, was forced to land in the village of Little Wigborough, Essex. The crew burned the airship and left the scene, but were arreted by police in Peldon. Stereoscopic card detail.
