Lilian Harvey, British-born German film actress, c1938. Lilian Harvey (1906-1968) spent most of her acting career in Germany, although she made 4 Hollywood pictures in the 1930s. Her connections with Jewish colleagues brought Harvey to the attention of the Gestapo and she was forced to emigrate from Nazi Germany in 1939, settling in the United States where she worked as a volunteer nurse during the Second World War.
