Tsarina Maria Feodorovna of Russia with Tsarevich Nicholas, c1873. Princess Dagmar of Denmark (1847-1928) married the future Tsar Alexander III on 9 November 1866, after which she was known as Maria Feodorovna. Their eldest son Nicholas (1868-1918) succeeded Alexander as Emperor of Russia in 1894. He was forced to abdicate after the Russian Revolution in 1917 and, together with the rest of the Russian imperial family, was murdered by Communists at Ekaterinburg in 1918. Found in the collection of the Russian State Film and Photo Archive, Krasnogorsk.
