Soviet leader Josef Stalin with his second wife Nadezhda Alliluyeva, late 1920s. Nadezhda Alliluyeva (1901-1932) married Stalin (1879-1953) in 1919. Her death was officially attributed to appendicitis, but it is generally accepted that she committed suicide.
