Alma Mahler, Austrian socialite and composer, c1908. Alma Schindler (1879-1964) was the wife, successively, of the composer Gustav Mahler, architect Walter Gropius, and novelist Franz Werfel. She also had an affair with the artist Oskar Kokoschka, who produced several works inspired by their relationship, most notably his painting 'Bride of the Wind'. From a private collection.
