'Khan Tokhtamysh's invasion of Moscow in 1382', 1918. Tokhtamysh (d1406) was a Mongol ruler who led the Golden Horde's military invasion of Russia in 1382. Moscow was besieged and was ransacked by the Mongols after they falsely promised that the population would be unharmed if the defenders opened the city gates. Found in the collection of the State United Art Museum, Kostroma, Russia.
