Counting the geese: fragment of wall painting from the tomb of Nebamun, (no 2), Thebes, Egypt, 18th Dynasty, c1350 BC. Showing a man herding geese with text above beginning 'do not rush with the birds'. Scenes of watching agricultural or field activities such as this were intended to convey the importance of the owner of the tomb, and thus to commemorate him in the Afterlife.
