'Lady in a Garden' (Portrait of Grand Duchess Natalia), c1773-c1776. The fifth child of Ludwig IX, Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt, and Caroline of Zweibrücken, Natalia Alexeievna of Russia (1755-1776) was the first wife of the future Tsar Paul I of Russia, the eldest son of Catherine the Great. She died on 15 April 1776, shortly after delivering a stillborn baby. Found in the collection of the State A Pushkin Museum of Fine Arts, Moscow.
