Mikhail Kutuzov, Russian soldier, (1833-1834). Mikhail Illarionovich Kutuzov (1745-1813) was appointed Commander-in-Chief of Russia's armies on 17 August 1812. He is generally credited with turning back Napoleon's invasion of Russia. Found in the collection of The Hermitage, St Petersburg.
