Werner Kuhnt, regional Hitler Youth leader, Potsdam Municipal Castle, Germany, 18 April 1936. Kuhnt (1911-2000) fought in the German army in the Second World War and later went on to become a far-right politician. In 1978, as editor of an extreme right-wing magazine, he stated that Anne Frank's diary was a forgery not written by her. He was charged with incitement of the people and defamation of a dead person but was acquitted at a trial in Stuttgart, a verdict upheld at a subsequent appeal.
