'Don Fernando de Aragon', c1910. Ferdinand II (1452-1516), called the Catholic, was King of Sicily from 1468 and King of Aragon from 1479. As Ferdinand V he was the King of Castile in his right of his wife, Isabella I, from 1475 until her death in 1504. In 1504 he became King of Naples as Ferdinand III, reuniting Naples with Sicily permanently. In 1512, he became King of Navarre. Ferdinand and Isabella sponsored the first voyage of Christopher Columbus in 1492.
