Rafael Maria de Labra, Spanish politician, (Havana, 1841-Madrid, 1918). Supporter of the abolition of slavery, he was elected President of theSpanish abolitionist society (1869). Concerned about education problems, contributed to the foundation of the Free Institution of Education, where he was Professor. Militant Republican, Congressman and Senator, defended the autonomy of the West Indies.
