Jose Antonio Cortina, eloquent speaker, notable lawyer and fervent abolitionist, born in Guanajanapo in 1852. He was one of the main chiefs of the Divided Autonomist party, he founded the famous 'Magazine of Cuba' in 1877 and died in 1884.
