'Rabi in the Attack of "The Blacks"', 1895, (1920s). 'Rabi en el Ataque de "Los Negros"'. Soldier and Cuban patriot Jose de Jesus Rabi, (1845-1915) was born Jose Jesus Sablon in Jiguaní, eastern Cuba. He fought in the Ten-Years War (1868-1878), the first war for the independence of Cuba. He led the 'attack of the Blacks' in Jiguani in 1895, and achieved the rank of general. There is little information about his life, but it appears that he was black, or of 'Indian blood'.
