Battle of Saint John (San Juan). The battle took place on the 1st of July 1898 at loma de San Juan, which was fortified by the Spanish. 6,000 Americans attacked and the hero of the day was Lieutenant Colonel Roosevelt, one of the chiefs of the rough-riders.
