Mrs Jane Braddyll, 1788. Jane Gale was the only daughter of Matthias Gale of Catgill Hall, Cumberland. In 1776 she married her cousin, William Gale (1755-1818) of Conishead Priory, who adopted the additional surname of Braddyll the same year. Braddyll became an MP and Groom of the Bedchamber to George III (1738-1820). After a painting by Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723-1792). From 'Chairman & Vice-Chair Miniatures' cigarette cards, first series, produced by R. J. Lea, Ltd., Manchester, 1912.
