Lieutenant-General Sir John Moore (1761-1809), c1805. Best known for his military training reforms he died at the Battle of Corunna, in which he defeated a French army under Marshal Soult during the Peninsular War. After a painting by Sir Thomas Lawrence (1769-1830), c1805. From 'Chairman & Vice-Chair Miniatures' cigarette cards, first series, produced by R. J. Lea, Ltd., Manchester, 1912.
