Margaret and the Robber, 1902. The legend of Queen Margaret of Anjou after the Battle of Hexham (1464) is a legend appealing in its pathos and high romanticism; it has, however, no basis in history, as Margaret was not even in England at the time of the battle. After a work by Patten Wilson (1869-1934). From A Child's History of England by Charles Dickens [J. M. Dent & Co., New York, 1902]
