'The Great Staircase of the Palace', c1938. The great staircase of the palace has old pine treads, with nosings of walnut inlaid with box, the carving follows the style of this period in england c1720. The Capitol at Williamsburg, Virginia housed the House of Burgesses of the Colony of Virginia from 1705, when the capital was relocated there from Jamestown, until 1779, when the capital was relocated to Richmond.
