In May 1934 Jean Gardner Batten (1909-1982) successfully flew solo from England to Australia in the Gipsy Moth. The journey lasted 14 days and 22 hours beating the existing England-to-Australia record of English aviator Amy Johnson (1903-1941) by over four days. From His Majesty The King 1910-1935.
