Physical drill at Canning Town Women's Settlement, London, c1901 (1901). The Canning Town Women's Settlement, Cumberland Road, was founded in 1892 by FW Newland, pastor of Canning Town Congregational Church. In 1899 the Lees Hall, Barking Road, named after its donors, was opened as headquarters and offices.
