The Schneider Trophy: Howard Pixton talking to Jacques Schneider after his victory, 1914 (1934). The Coupe d'Aviation Maritime Jacques Schneider (Schneider Trophy) was a trophy awarded annually to the winner of a race for seaplanes and flying boats. The race was held twelve times between 1913 and 1931 organised by Jacques Schneider (1879-1928), a French financier, balloonist and aircraft enthusiast. Howard Pixton (1885-1972) was an early British aviator who won the 1914 edition of the race, held in Monaco, flying a Sopwith Tabloid seaplane. The Schneider Trophy is now held at the Science Museum, South Kensington, London. From History of British Aviation 1908-1914, Volume II, by R. Dallas Brett [The Aviation Book Club, London, 1934]
