Gardens of the Villa d'Este near Tivoli, Rome, Italy, 1927. The Villa d'Este was built in 1550 for Cardinal Ippolito II d'Este, the son of Alfonso I d'Este and Lucretia Borgia. The villa's gardens and fountains are regarded as one of the finest examples of Italian Renaissance garden design and architecture.
