Cherhill White Horse (18th Century), Wiltshire, England, 20th century. Chalk figure dating from the late 18th century. A large visual representation cut into hillside to reveal underlying geology. A type of geoglyph designed to be seen from afar rather than above. Many figures long thought to be ancient have been found to be relatively recent when subjected to modern archaeological scrutiny.
