Hercules with Cerberus from a Sarcophagus in Asia Minor (Hellenstic Period), 20th century. Held in Archaeological Museum, Istanbul. Hercules is the Roman name for the Greek divine hero Heracles, famous for his strength and adventures known as the 'Twelve Labours'. As his final Labor, Heracles was instructed to bring the hellhound Cerberus up from Hades, the kingdom of the dead.
