Curetes Street, leading to the State Agora, Ephesus, Turkey, 20th century. The Curetes was one of the most important streets of ancient Ephesus, an ancient Greek city on the coast of Ionia. The city flourished after it came under the control of the Roman Republic in 129 BC.
