The Avenue, leading to the Stone Circle, Avebury, Wiltshire, 20th century. Built and altered over many centuries from about 2850 BC until about 2200 BC, Neolithic henge monuments containing three stone circles, were constructed around the village of Avebury in Wiltshire. At some stage, two avenues of stones were built, linking the Great Henge with other ceremoniall sites at Beckhampton and Overton Hill.
