The Roman Gymnasium, Sardis, Early 3rd century, Turkey, 20th century. Sardis was an ancient city in Turkey's Manisa Province. The gymnasium in Ancient Greece functioned as a training facility for competitors in public games and was also a place for socializing and engaging in intellectual pursuits. The portico reflects Severan dynasty architecture.
