18th Century Market Hall and Cross on Roman Column with Sundial, Martock, Somerset, 20th century. Martock was known in the Domesday Book of 1086 as Mertoch, it is a large village and historic market town. The hamstone Market House on Church Street was built around 1753, it is a Grade II listed building.
