Geyser at Hverageroi, Iceland, 20th century. Part of the Hengill central volcano, this geothermally active area experiences very frequent (usually minor) earthquakes. The formation of geysers is due to particular hydrogeological conditions, which exist in only a few places on Earth, they are a fairly rare phenomenon.
