'Ships Attacked by Pirates', c1808. Lieutenant Turner and the crew of a boat from the country-ship Tay attacked and made prisoners by the Ladrone pirates in 1806. Operating from the Chinese coast, the Ladrone pirates (the name given to them by the Portuguese) terrorised shipping in the China Sea. From Adventures By Sea From Art of Old Time, by Basil Lubbock.
